Great Basin Wildrye Cable Hat
Inspired by the twisting trunk of a majestic Juniper tree, this
interlocking cable stitch pattern stands out against the stark,
smooth extended single crochet background. The cable
flows up from the Ribbing to the crown of the hat, where it
twists into a single point at the base of a fluffy pompom.
Hat is worked in the round without joins from the bottom up,
beginning with an extended single crochet/ Post stitch
ribbing that transforms into an easy-to-memorize cable
pattern. The cable is easier than it looks; the stitches that are
“worked behind” are extended single crochet stitches
instead of the usual tricky-to-work post stitches.
