In Shetland lace most patterns are knitted on a garter base.
As this cowl is knitted in the round I wanted to design one using the beautiful Print an da Wave pattern, which is knitted on a stocking stitch base.

From fences to scarf to shawls this pattern is one that remains steadfast in Shetland knitting. It is known to have been in use from at least the mid 1800’s
