Gurgelmuff [[guʁglmuf]], noun, German
A description of what a cowl really is: a muff (same word in English) for your gurgel (the front part of your neck. Basically your throat). This one starts with a provisional cast-on and is worked as a tube to double the length of the finished cowl. The provisional cast-on is put back onto a spare needle and the two live ends are grafted together. Double fabric = double warmth. Add to that two simple brioche stitch patterns for extra texture and you get a light and super voluminous… well, muff for your gurgel.
The pattern is rather versatile, meaning you can change the circumference no problem, use one of the two stitch patterns throughout or change more often between them, use just one color, or even more than the four I used. By turning the cowl over, you can change the look of your Gurgelmuff as you like. The world is your oyster, although I recommend you take off the cowl before slurping it down your throat, in case of spillage.
