The ever-popular fingerless mitt is a canvas for knitters to work some of knitting’s fancier stitches: lace, cables and fair-isle. Wonderful though that is, it can make it difficult for less experienced knitters to find a fingerless mitts pattern they can enjoy knitting. With this in mind I designed Happenstance, a pair of fingerless mitts featuring moss stitch cuffs and edges, stocking stitch and a decorative panel of moss stitch bordered by slipped stitch down the back. Worked in a chunky pure wool or wool-blend, these fingerless mitts look particularly lovely in a hand-dyed yarn.

The simple yet decorative design of these fingerless mitts make them a perfect project for beginner knitters, especially those using double pointed needles for the first time. More experienced knitters might enjoy them as a quick gift knit or to work on while in company or enjoying a television programme.
