This showstopper is probably my favorite project in the book and is made with the Graduated Stitch Method. Unlike many of the designs in this collection, the main part of the pattern is plain, and the pineapple lace is used just as an accent. The gorgeous plum color will flatter any complexion.

The one error in this pattern is minor. The Tech Editor decided to make the sleeves longer on the larger sizes by adding to the beginning ch, but left off the added sts in the rows. I corrected the pattern to match my origjnal, with the sleeves of all sizes the same length.

I used my signature Graduated Stitch Method of making shaped garments without increases or decreases on this top. The upper body part and sleeves use this method, which has the beginning check at the side with vertical rows. You will be working sc and hdc on the same row. This upper body part is a beginner level. The pineapple border would be muore of an intermdiate level, but the stitch diagram would make it easier to follow.

Don’t worry about the neck opening sliding off your shoulders, because I give instructions on weaving bead elastic (the smallest the is) through the top sts, which will hold it securely on the shoulders.
