CONSTRUCTION
This beanie is worked bottom up starting with 2x2 ribbing. The sample shown features a lace-weight yarn held together with fingering-weight yarn in main color, but a single strand of fingering-weight could be used instead. Stitches are increased before working the colorwork section. The crown is worked in stripes.

Length from Brim to Crown (as worn): 8 ¾“ / 22.5 cm.
Circumference at Widest Point: 21 ¾” / 55.5 cm.

MATERIALS
Yarn 1: Fingering-weight yarn in the following amounts:
MC: 115 yds / 105 m.
CC1: 30 yds / 28 m.
CC2 and CC3: 18 yds / 17 m each.

Yarn 2: Lace-weight yarn in the following amount:
MC: 115 / 105 m.

Shown in: Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift (100% Shetland Wool; 115 yds / 105 m per 25 g ball) in shades Prussian (MC), Old Gold (CC1), Mermaid (CC2) and Bluebell (CC3)
and The Farmer’s Daughter Fibers Mighty Mo (70% Kid Mohair / 30% Mulberry Silk; 459 yds / 420 m per 50 g ball) in shade I’ve Got Dreams To Remember.

Needles:
US 2 / 3 mm circular needle, 16” / 40 cm (for ribbing).
US 4 / 3.5 mm circular needles, 16” / 40 cm and DPNS or long circular for working magic loop for small circumferences (for main body of hat).

Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

GAUGE
27 sts & 32 rows = 4” / 10 cm over Stranded Colorwork pattern on US 4 / 3.5 mm needles, after blocking.
28 sts & 40 rows = 4” / 10 cm over Rib on US 2 / 3 mm needles, after blocking.
