Link to matching hat

My brother has extremely expensive tastes. This makes him a very difficult person to find a good Christmas gift for. So whenever he shows interest in an item that I could knit for him, I jump on it. One year, he mentioned that he really admired a hat and scarf set that he saw a celebrity wearing, and would like something like that. And it would be extra awesome if it were reversible. Of course I had to rise to the challenge. Last year, I designed a hat. This year, I designed this scarf. And bam, just like that, two years of Christmas knitting taken care of. Thank heavens for knitting! Now to stress about his gift for next year…

About the Construction

This pattern is made using stranded knitting in the round, not double knitting. Using double knitting would certainly have been a more straightforward way to make a reversible scarf, but in double knitting, the stitches come out very short, and so instead of the intended circle shapes, there would have been squashed ovals. Stranded knitting, however, makes stitches more equal in height and width, so that is what was used for this scarf.
