The High Line shawl/scarf and the High Line Hat are this years patterns for the 12 Days before Christmas KAL.
This is a pre-launch sale.
THE FULL PATTERN WILL BE RELEASED ON NOVEMBER 28TH FOR THE START OF THE 12 DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS KAL. YOU WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL WHEN IT ARRIVES IN YOUR RAVELRY LIBRARY.
This year the KAL will have 2 extra days to coincide with US Thanksgiving and will start a little earlier.
Please see KAL Schedule below.
The High Line is your shawl & scarf all-in-one!
The High Line is a unisex, textured scarf and shawl worked flat, producing a completely reversible fabric so that no side of the tracks is the wrong side. ;) Inspired by New York City’s historic elevated railway, the 1 x 1 ribbing echoes the rails, whilst the sleepers have inspired rows of squishy garter stitch.
Worked tip to tip, creating a shallow triangular shawl with branch lines. If you want to stay on the same track, then the scarf is your other option. Again, worked tip to tip, creating a long narrow scarf.
CONSTRUCTION NOTES:
The Scarf: One stitch is increased every 4th RS row for the beginning increase side. It’s a good idea to weigh your yarn before you begin and then after you have finished the rails, so that you know how much yarn you will require for the end tip. It is then worked straight until the end tip. One stitch is decreased every 4th RS row to the finishing tip, giving complete symmetry to the scarf.
The Shawls: One stitch is increased every 4th RS row, with branch lines occurring until the centre point of the shawl is reached. One stitch is then decreased every 4th RS row to the finishing tip. There is one branch line in the small shawl, and there are two in the larger shawl.
You may add more branch lines, thus increasing the wingspan and depth of the shawl. More yarn will be required.
Gauge is not crucial for this project, but it will affect meterage and final size if different. The gauge provided is pre-blocking so you can maximize the use of your available yarn. Simply unravel the swatch once you have achieved a fabric you like and reuse it in you project.
The pattern has both written and chart instructions.
