Honohoshi Beach is a small, rocky shore on a little island in Japan. The stones have been worn perfectly smooth and round by the waves. As the waves go out, you can hear them knock together.

The undulating brioche triangle stitch pattern reminded me of the rhythmic sound of the waves and rocks in motion.

Yarn: The pattern requires around 275 yards of the MC and 260 yards of the CC.

MC: Swans Island Natural Colors Collection (100% merino wool, 100 g, 525 yds / 480 m) 1 skein in Oatmeal (discontinued color)

CC: Swans Island Ikat Indigo (100% merino wool, 100 g, 525 yds / 480 m) 1 skein in Indigo + Natural (discontinued color)

Recommended Needles: US size 4 (3.5 mm) needle

Notions: tapestry needle, stitch marker

Finished size: 57 inches in circumference and 7.25 inches wide. (If you would like to adjust the length of your cowl, increase or reduce the number of sts by a multiple of 14.)

Gauge: 23.5 stitches and 54 rows = 4 inches in stitch pattern created by knitting rounds 1-36. (Gauge is not critical for this project but will affect yardage.)
