Huma Shawl
Discontinued.
This digital pattern is no longer available online.
This fingering-weight shawl is knit from the back neck down to the hem. Increases are worked on both right-side and wrong-side rows to create a deep crescent shape. The outer two panels are worked in garter stitch, and the center panel features a center “flame” chart. It is easily adjustable by working more or less rows, depending on the amount of yardage you have.
The Huma is a legendary bird in Persian mythology. In many of the tales, this bird rises, phoenix-like, every hundred years, being consumed by flames, to rise from ashes in a new cycle of rebirth.
This pattern is also available as part of the 4-pattern Mythical Creatures Club from Wooly Wonka Fibers.
