I’m Not Who You Think I Am
At first look you may think this neck warmer is a shawl, but take a closer look — there are no dangling tips! It is a cowl that is worked flat on bias starting with just a few stitches. Knitting continues with simple shaping, bold lace, stripes, and picot bind off. The I-cord selvage is worked at the same time as the body and hides the yarn when switching colours. A bit of seaming at the end makes it to a cowl.
The pattern is written for fingering weight yarn in two colours, but you can use a single solid colour, gradient, or more colours than specified.
For information about measurements and yarn requirements please check the second page of the pattern located among the photos on the left.
There is yet another reason for the name of the cowl. I realise so often that another person may be understanding the world and themselves in a completely different way, while I presumed we think the same. So I am not who you think I am, and you are not who I think you are, but despite of all the differences in the way we think and act, we have many things in common and always a chance for appreciation and acceptance.
The pattern is fully charted and includes line-by-line written instructions. Video tutorials are available for the I-cord cast on and working aligned picots.
I asked test knitters what they would like to tell about the pattern and the finished cowl to other knitters and here are some of their answers:
Vaida It’s quick, it’s fun, it’s easy - and the finished product is great both as a gift (but it’s difficult to give away :)))
akshata I like the unique construction and that it was a one-skein project! The lace pattern is easily memorized and the delicate, intricate cowl would make a perfect gift for a loved one. Also, love how versatile the pattern is… it can be knit in one/two or more colors. Would look lovely in a gradient color scheme too :)
docdaisymae The pattern is pretty easy, I learned a new technique (I-cord tab). The overall shape and size of the cowl are great - my daughter uses it almost every day!
JolandaKnitsSocks A cute feminine cowl that is easy to style and wear. It’s a quick knit that looks way more complicated than it is and would make a nice gift.
Spinningcats It is an easy and quick project.
echeverialaui With this cowl you get a 2-in-1 product, it’s not the usual kind of cowl, nor is it a shawl, but can be worn as either or both! The knitting was very relaxing and you could easily vary, use up leftovers and make the pattern your own.
