This is one of three lace accessories in my Dragonfly Days collection. All three patterns may be purchased together as a discounted ebook for $12.
Named after a genus of damselflies, the Ischnura Shawl is a warm and cozy cool weather accessory. Knit in bulky weight wool, this shawl is worked flat from the bottom up on a circular needle, beginning with the lace section. Short rows are used to shape the upper (garter stitch) section.
Finished (Blocked) Measurements:
72 inches/183 cm wide at top by 15.5 inches/39 cm deep at center
Materials:
--575 yds/525 m bulky weight yarn. Sample was knit with Brooklyn Tweed Quarry 100% Targhee-Columbia wool; 200yd/183m per 100 gr skein, color: Gypsum, 3 skeins.
--US #10/6.00mm 32-inch or 40-inch circular needle
--Stitch markers, tapestry needle
Gauge:
10 sts/16 rows = 4”/10 cm in lace pattern, after blocking
11 sts/18 rows = 4”/10 cm in garter stitch, after blocking
Gauge is not crucial for this design, but if your gauge differs from the pattern gauge, the dimensions of your shawl will be different as well. If you knit at a looser gauge, you may need more yarn.
Instructions: Stitch patterns are provided in both charts and in written, line-by-line form.
