Jump Around Child's Jumper
There are three downloads with this pattern - the pattern in US terms, the pattern in UK terms, and an extensive photo tutorial.
The pattern is very beginner friendly, with a detailed photo tutorial walking through every step of making this simple jumper from 2 granny squares.
This pattern provides instructions to create a jumper in all sizes from dolls clothes and premature baby to age 16-18 years. It is based on the ‘granny square’ technique.
It can be worked up in any yarn weight, and is ideal for 4 ply, double knitting or Aran weight yarn. It provides options for short sleeves, long sleeves and sleeveless, It also includes two different necklines and a hooded version.
The focus is on the basic pattern, rather than on intricate stitches or elaborate design elements.
This pattern should therefore be useful for both very novice crocheters who have just learned how to make their first granny square, and want to move one step forward. If you can make a granny square, you can make this jumper!
It is a very adaptable pattern, so you can use whatever yarn you have available.
If you have just started crocheting last week, successfully made your first granny square, and bought another ball of yarn in the shops because you liked the colour and squishiness of it. But now you realise that there are different ‘types’ of yarn, and you don’t know if you can use that yarn to make this pattern?
In this case, yes, you can. The pattern is given with detail for 3 different main types of yarn, but is adaptable for almost any yarn you can imagine.
It should also be of use to the more adventurous and experienced crocheter who is looking for a reference point from which they wish to add their own touch and imaginative design elements.
The Jumper Options
The jumper can easily be made with a round neckline, or a button opening neckline with collar, or a button opening neckline with hood. It is made with very simple untapered sleeves, while can be made to any length from a border on a sleeveless garment to full length. Instructions to decrease into a tight cuff are included for a long sleeve
