The Backstory:
In light of the current global situation, I knew I needed to get another pattern out there using scraps. I’ve adapted the pattern for 4, 3, 2, and 1 color versions so you can use nearly any yarn! It’s graded for five sizes, both for a beanie or a messy-bun style hat.
Kay is my sister. I mean, not by blood, but our families have been friends for most of my life and she grew up down the street. She’s a teacher back in the town I grew up in and has been on the “knitworthy” list since the day I started. I knew she wanted a messy-bun hat she could pull a pony tail through, so I designed the KayKay hat with that in mind.
I used 4 fingering weight yarns at a time, fading the main color from 1 strand to start to all four held quadruple. The main color I used is “Party Rock Anthem” by Molly Girl, and the second I saw it I knew that had to be used for Kay. Those were the days, with Red Foo and LMFAO ruling the airways…who were we?!?
Note: if anyone has a Lizzie McGuire yarn colorway, let me know. It’s me and Kay’s movie!
