Kayon Lace Socks
DESCRIPTION:
Wayang Kulit is one of the most popular shadow puppet show in Central Java province and Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It has also been one of the most popular Shadow Puppet theatre throughout Asia. One of the most important requisite in Wayang Kulit is Kayon. “Kayon” means forest. It is also known as “Gunungan” or mountain. It is a representation of ancient Banyan Tree originated from India. This consist of two parts: a mountain and a tree. The Tree motif is rendered as a combination of two different trees: the fig tree rooted in heaven; and the earthbound lotus tree rising from the waters.
In my personal opinion, the perfect color to show off its best look for this project is in woody / medium brown color, just like woods. You can also use greenish color. This project will be perfect for your Early Autumn / Fall season knitting project to use up your wooden color sock weight yarn. Constructed as toe-up ankle socks, this project will be done in no time, suitable for a weekend knitting project.
