The Kentucky Farmhouse Shawl came about as I was visiting my mom and Granny last Spring. I was able to attend the Kentucky Sheep and Wool Festival during my trip and met so many lovely folks including Lauren of Lolodidit. As my mom was driving me around, we passed the lovely farmlands that Kentucky is famous for and I knew I wanted to knit a shawl celebrating my fondness of where I grew up.
This is a top-down triangle shaped shawl worked in a lovely yak, silk and wool blend yarn, accented with suri alpaca ruffles.
This shawl is a special collaboration with Lolodidit and uses two skeins of Baby Got Yak and 1 skein of Alpaca Fluff. Click here to check out Lolo’s kits!
Construction: This shawl is worked flat from the top down, beginning with a garter tab cast-on. A triangle shape is created by working increases on either side of the shawl. The body of the shawl is knit, and then bound off. Ruffles are added along three garter ridges that have been incorporated while knitting the body of the shawl.
