This cowl, which is worked in the round, represents a convergence of two techniques: slip stitch mosaics and the brioche stitch. Even though the cowl looks like it is worked using a stranded method, only one color is used at a time. The results create a reversible cowl that has two distinctly different yet attractive sides. One side looks like a traditional stockinette mosaic, but the fabric does not roll like traditional stockinette stitch. The other side reveals a textured effect with no loose floats. This unisex cowl is very warm, yet lightweight, and comfortable to wear. Very suitable for gradient yarns.

The size of the cowl is easily adjusted. Approximately 100 yards (91m) of each of two contrasting yarns is required for the pattern as written. While gauge is provided using sport weight yarn, the pattern is easily adjusted for different yarn weights.

The pattern is provided with both charted and written instructions. The written instructions use brioche terms and abbreviations as established by Nancy Marchant at www.briochestitch.com and in her book, Knitting Brioche (North Light Books, 2009).

The pattern is four pages long and can be printed without color. Much gratitude to the pattern testers KNITnGLO, sgraham, and Angie19
