Kinross Shawl is named after the Scottish town that is the home of Todd and Duncan, a leading cashmere spinner, located on the banks of Loch Leven and overlooking the small island on the Loch where Mary, Queen of Scots, was briefly imprisoned by her Scottish lords and escaped with the help of her considerable charm and a young servant boy.

The design was part of ColourMartian Designs 2014, a collection of designs highlighting Colourmart yarns by a group of designers on Ravelry.

The shawl is a triangular, top down lace shawl that can be made with any lace yarn in merino, cashmere, silk or even better in a blend of all three fibers. There is a mouthwatering yarn choice with these luxurious fibers on Colourmart Yarns.

The shawl can be made in 5 different sizes or more if required. Adjusting the size is easy, making this pattern suitable for a variety of yarn weights.

Typical yarn requirements with lace weight (2/15) yarns and US size 4 or 3.5mm needles are:

• size 1: 500 yds or 450 m, wingspan 56” or 142 cm
• size 2: 600 yds or 550 m, wingspan 61” or 155 cm
• size 3: 700 yds or 650 m, wingspan 65” or 165 cm
• size 4: 830 yds or 750 m, wingspan 70” or 178 cm
• size 5: 950 yds or 850 m, wingspan 75” or 191 cm.

The design starts with a diamond lace pattern for the body of the shawl and ends with a tree of life pattern along the edge. The trees are decorated with nupps and embellished with size 8 Miyuki beads (optional).
