Kite Cardigan
-Finished Size: 34¼ (39, 44, 48½, 53½, 58½)” hip circumference, buttoned. Cardigan shown measures 39”, modeled with 6” of positive ease.
-Yarn: Universal Yarn Deluxe Chunky (100% wool; 120 yd 110 m/3 ½ oz 100 g): #13209 stone, 5 (6, 7, 8, 9, 10) skeins.
-Needles: Size 10 (6 mm): 32” circular (cir) and two double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
-Notions: Markers (m); removable m; stitch holders; tapestry needle; three 7/8” buttons.
-Gauge: 13 sts and 22 rows = 4” in k1, p1 rib; 16 sts and 18 rows = 4” in diagonal lace patt, un-stretched.
Diagonal and vertical lines mix with mesh in a batwing jacket.
Note: As written, the Left/Right Straight Lace portions are not an exact mirror. If you would like them to be, this is how Straight Lace Right should read:
Straight Lace Right: (multiple of 3 sts + 2)
Row 1 (WS) K1, * p1, k2tog, yo; rep from * to last st, p1.
Row 2 (RS) K1, * p1, yo, k2tog; rep from * to last st, p1.
Rep Rows 1 and 2 for patt.
