Kitsune is the Japanese word for “fox.” The Kitsune is a traditional mythical character.. a fox spirit. A kitsune lives for many years,growing wiser as it grows older, and possesses intelligence, spirituality, loyalty, and magical powers. (The older and wise she is.. the more tails she grows!)

Combine this Japanese imagery with traditional Scandinavian stranded knitting and mitten construction for a beautiful, functional, and interesting accessory.

Tools: one set of 4 size 0 double pointed needles, one set of size 2 double pointed needles, a stitch holder or piece of scrap yarn, stitch markers (2) needle to weave in ends.

Materials: 4 balls of Knit Picks Palette, or other fingering weight yarn, 1 of each color (50 grams of yarn makes one pair of mittens… you won’t use an entire ball of each color).

Gauge: 36 st and 40 rows = 4 inches in Knit Picks Palette. (Brown Sheep produces slightly smaller gauge.

Finished Measurements:
Mitten is 9.25 inches from top to edge, and 4 inches wide. Thumbs are about 2.5 inches long.
