The Koivu hat is a snug hat and a main body in a rib pattern. The brim is knitted on the RS but folded up so that the WS is facing, creating two layers of fabric over the ears.

Koivu is best knitted in a sticky, woolen spun, non-superwash wool yarn with good memory, to make sure the folded brim is firm and snug.

This hat comes in three sizes - always check the finished measurements and choose the size that gives you a 5-10 cm negative ease.

Sizes: 1 (2, 3)
Recommended ease: 5-10 cm / 2-4” of negative ease at the brim
Yarn: Tukuwool DK, 100 % Finnish wool, 250 m / 273 yds per 100 g
Sample knitted in colourways Auri (MC), Haavu (CC1) and Lehto (CC2)
Yardage: 1 skein of each shade, or approximately 50 (60, 70) m / 54 (65, 76) yds of each CC and 80 (100, 120) m / 87 (109, 131) yds of MC
Needles: 4.5 mm / US7 for brim, 4.0 mm / US6 for rib fabric
