Find five balls of fingering weight yarn in co-ordinating or contrasting shades—in your stash or at your LYS. The sample used approximately 165 m (180 yds) of each colour. I used KNIT PICKS Palette yarn—with its expansive range of over 100 colours, including heathers and marls, you’re sure to find a palette you like. Worked in tumbling stripes, this design incorporates five colours and four stitch patterns. With twenty stripes in total, each colour is used four times and each stitch pattern is used five times in a rhythmic sequence. Width is easy to adjust by casting on more (or fewer) stitches in multiples of six. Be aware that doing so will affect the amount of yarn needed to complete your wrap.

The wrap is a simple rectangle, with no shaping. The lace stitch patterns are fairly straightforward, making this an easy-to-intermediate project.

The skills you will need to know or learn in order to knit this wrap are:

  • cast on and bind off;
  • knit and purl;
  • yarnover increase;
  • knit 2 together decrease;
  • ssk decrease;
  • centered double decrease.
