Lattice Love Socks
One pattern, two ways to love! These just-above-the-ankle length socks work equally well with a single yarn or using two complementary yarns for contrast in the heels, toes, and cuffs. These socks are well suited for solid colors or for yarns with a gentle gradient. The pattern is super easy to adjust if you prefer a longer sock, with repeats at regular intervals, and looks great with any size foot!
The center “braid” looks like a series of hearts as you look down on it, surrounded by two panels of lovely lattice, hence the name Lattice Love.
This pattern describes how to knit the socks two at a time on a single 40” circular needle, toe up, with a placeholder for the heel which will be added as an “afterthought” once the main sock is done.
Instructions for one-at-a-time with DPNs are also provided.
The instructions are sized for a 60 stitch sock but instructions on how to size up and down from 52 stitches minimum to 68 maximum are also provided.
Less than 100 yards of the contrast color are required and between 150-250 yards of the main color depending on the size length you prefer, so you can easily get two pairs out of two standard fingering weight skeins if you reverse the main and contrast colors for the second pair. The solid color socks can be knit with one 100g fingering weight skein or two 50g balls and for the shortest length you may still have enough for a second pair!
