The nine squares in this sampler afghan are designed to teach you all of the stitches used in the reversible intarsia technique. You begin with upright half double and double crochet stitches, then move through the various angles of half double crochet, and finally use half-color double crochet stitches. Once you master the technique with these nine squares, you will have learned the skills to be able to complete any of the patterns in this book. The squares featured here also ease you into colorwork, beginning with two colors and gradually working up to as many as five to seven separate bobbins of color within a single square.
