This design was inspired by Pleated Pullover by Charles Gandy, which appeared in the premier issue of knit.wear, an Interweave publication. I’ve always wanted to do a similar design with a lighter weight yarn, and since Charles’ design was published in 2011, I’ve had plenty of time to think about it. I decided on fewer (10 for each size) but wider knife pleats of 20 stitches each.

A welt in a different color separates the pleats from the bodice, and the welts are repeated on the top-down, short-row sleeves and neckline. The bodice, designed with zero ease, has a simple nupp pattern. The pleats are worked in the round, but the bodice is worked flat, with a gap at the back for a button band.
