This gender-neutral sock, with its interrupted zigzag cable calling to mind lightning bolts, is sized for both men and women. A variation of the Strong heel (named for its creator, Gerdine Crawford-Strong) is used, which starts the increases in the middle of the heel rather than at the outer edges. This allows the pattern at the sides of the leg to go all the way down to the bottom of the foot, rather than showing a gusset wedge of stockinette stitch. This is especially decorative when wearing sandals, where the side of the foot is visible.
