Little Black Skirt
A light fit-and-flare above-the-knee skater skirt in a wide range of sizes. The pattern is relatively accommodating for different yarn weights, as it does not rely on you getting precise row gauge. You could use either DK, sport or fingering-weight yarn for this skirt, as long as you like the fabric you get on the recommended gauge.
The cardigan in the photos is the Haust cardigan.
Construction
The skirt is worked waist-down in the round. First you work the inside of the folded waist hem flat. This is worked at a tighter gauge in order to give you negative ease at the waist. Later you will also add an elastic waistband. Choose the size based on the ‘to fit waist’ measurements. The skirt will immediately begin to flare after the waist band and then get increasingly wider. At last you finish by creating another folded hem at the bottom of the skirt.

Navia Duo (100% Faroese wool, Shetland wool and Australian lambswool, 180m / 197yds, 50g)

Needles
Gauge-size circular needles, and 1/2 mm below gauge-size needles for hem fold.
The sample was made using 4.5 mm (US 7) and 4 mm (US 6), though I suspect most will use 4 mm (US 6) and 3.5 (US 4).
Notions
6 stitch markers, darning needle, contrast coloured scrap yarn for provisional cast-on and bind off, waistband elastic that’s about 3-3.5 cm /1.2-1.8” wide.
