Notes: Lobelia is worked top down in the round, and inside
out. This means that you’ll be working on the inside of the finished garment. For the purposes of the pattern, the side facing you while working (the ‘knit’ side) is referred to as RS until you turn your garment inside out at the end. This sweater has a background of reverse stocking stitch and a floral lace motif on the raglan faux-seams, with optional short rows at the neck. At the underarm, sleeve stitches are put on hold and the body is worked in one piece. This pattern provides instructions for two hem options, a straight hem or a split hem. The sleeve stitches are picked up and sleeves are worked down in the round. When working the sleeves, stitches are picked up from the Reverse Stocking Stitch side for a neat finish, by turning the work inside out, picking up and purling the underarm stitches, and then turning work inside out again to continue. Finally, stitches are picked up around the neckline and either a short neckband, a high neckband or a folded neckband is completed.
Note: The shorter neckband sits better when the optional short rows have been worked during the yoke shaping.
