Worsted Lofoten is a seamless yoke sweater worked from the top down incorporating simple textures and color fading to create a thoroughly enjoyable and really fast knitting project.

This sweater is the worsted weight version of the original Lofoten and includes a 2nd PDF with a printable sleeve checklist to make knitting the sleeves a breeze. You have the option of knitting 3/4 or long sleeves and there is information in the pattern for how to lengthen the sweater if you want to.

MATERIALS
Worsted Weight Yarn approx:
(Graded for the long sleeve version)

  • C1: 350 (370, 395, 440, 475){520, 555, 595, 625} yards, {320 (338, 361, 402, 434){475, 507, 544, 572} meters}
  • C2: 270 (275, 300, 335, 365){385, 420, 465, 510} yards, {247 (251, 274, 306, 334){352, 384, 425, 466} meters}
  • C3: 185 (190, 200, 225, 240){255, 270, 300, 325} yards, {169 (174, 183, 206, 219){233, 247, 274, 297} meters} Yardage may vary if your gauge/yarn is different.

Sample uses: Explorer Knits & Fibers Carlsbad Worsted (100% Superwash Merino, 218yds/100g) in the colorways C1: ‘Mountains At Dusk’, C2: ‘Rose Quartz’, C3:‘Golden Snitch’.

Notes about yarn/yardage:

  • I find choosing a speckled for C1 and then 2 solid colors that compliment the speckled for C2 & C3 works really well.
  • Sample carries the yarn during the fading section. If you choose to cut the yarn each time you change colors in the fade you may need a little more yarn than the yardage estimate.
  • Check the lengths in the schematic, if you are going to add more length you will need more yarn than the estimated requirements.*

NEEDLES
- Gauge Needles: US 8 {5 mm} 16″ {40 cm}, 24″ {60 cm} and your preferred sleeve needles (12″ {30 cm}, DPNs, or magic loop)
Or size needed to match gauge.
- Rib Needles: Set of circular needles 2 sizes smaller than what you use to meet gauge with in the same cable lengths. In this case US 6 ( 4 mm).

GAUGE
Blocked stockinette worked in the round using the gauge needles.
18 sts/24 rounds = 4″ {10 cm}.
