These mitts, knit seamlessly in the round, are a quick and fun introduction to brioche knitting, which produces a thick squishy fabric. Slight negative ease causes them to hug your hands, perfect for chilly fall days, while a stockinette thumb reduces bulk where you want it least.

These mitts will work well with a variety of worsted weight yarns, as long as they have good stitch definition to show off the honeycomb pattern. Plied or high-twist yarns will work best. Since this design is written with negative ease, I recommend a yarn with good elasticity that does not stretch out easily—wool instead of cotton, for example.

These mitts are worked in the round from the wrist up with a thumb gusset. Both mitts are worked the same. Almost all parts of these mitts can be lengthened or shortened to suit your preferences. Just knit more or fewer repeats of any of the stitch patterns!

Gauge
18 stitches and 40 rounds in 4” in Honeycomb Brioche (defined in the pattern).
24 stitches and 32 rounds in 4” in Stockinette stitch.

Finished Measurements
S (M, L, XL): 6.75 (7, 7.5, 8)” palm circumference and 6.75 (6.75, 7.5, 7.5)” length.
Length is adjustable.
Choose a size that is about ½” less than the circumference of your palm at its widest point above the thumb.
