Loki is the trickster god of the Norse mythology. Not truly a god, but actually a jötunn, who became Odin’s blood brother and adopted into the society of the gods. He represents chaos and though he often helps the gods to escape trouble, he is usually the one to start them. Loki is the link between the gods and the chaos of the human world, he is ambiguous and necessary, and he is the change in everyday.

The sock shows off the subtleties of Loki. The twisted stitch cable design comes from Loki’s twisted ways and shape shifting abilities and the two pointed tongues represent the double-dealing nature of this half god.

The Loki pattern is the February instalment of the MacKintosh Yarns sock club 2009/2010.
