The Lunklet Shawl is worked with 2 Shetland Lace patterns (motifs), the New Shell in the layers with an allover Shetland Lace pattern above known as Frost Flowers and Palm Beach. It is knitted flat in stocking stitch in 2 sizes. Wear it as a shawl or a scarf.

The Frost Flowers section of the shawl is worked in short rows. No wrap and turn techniques are required, the decrease at the turning point closes the hole which would otherwise form. Those decreases are coloured on the charts so are easy to identify.

It is an impressive design, but is much easier to knit than it looks. There are tips included in the pattern to help you along the way.

I have suggested Shetland 2 ply lace weight yarn but any yarn of similar thickness will work. A worsted spun lace yarn or a yarn with a silk content is also perfect and give a delicate drape to the Shawl.
