This pattern is an updated version of the mitten pattern from Knits from the North Country, published by Briggs and Little Woolen Mills in 2004 (now out of print). The Maple Leaf Accessories patterns were originally published in “Knits from the North Country. Classic Knits by Canadian Knitters” 2004. (This book is now out of print). The original collection is being updated to once again make them available to knitters. The mitten pattern has been redesigned to make them much warmer.
The updated pattern pays homage to the double knit, or salt & pepper style mittens (meaning alternating dark and light stitches).
Examples of these patterns can be found in the following pattern books: Saltwater Mittens, Saltwater Gifts, Favourite Mittens, Fox and Geese and Partridge Feet, Fox and Geese and Fences, and many more.
The pattern sizes are achieved by changing needle sizes (youth to XL Adult)
Briggs and Little Regal wool - one skein of each - Red, Bleached White
