The Marled Mania Hat has two layers for a thick warm winter hat. Create the first layer by knitting in the round with wide ribbing or honeycomb cables. Then, pick up stitches along the edge to knit another hat using 2 strands held together while fading your colors. This speckled fade layer is ideal for using mini skeins or eating up those leftover bits of fingering weight yarn.

Ribbed Version
This sample always uses 2 strands of fingering weight yarn held together.
Woolfolk Tynd, Colors - 14 (dark gray) & 15 (black) held together for darker sample, 01 (white) & 15 (black) held together for black/white sample.

The colorful marled layer of the hat features several speckled colors of Hedgehog Fibres Sock Yarn. I recommend using at least 5 colors blended together to get a splashy marled color palette.

Honeycomb Cables Version
This version uses DK weight for the red cables and fingering weight yarn held double for the marled ribbing.
