The 2nd of February in North America is Groundhog Day (Marmotta is the italian for Groundhog!), a tradition that dates back centuries and that is linked to the old Candlemas day. In the US, people watch for the appearance of a groudhog: it is said that if the animal comes out of its hole to see the sun, winter is almost over and spring will come soon. Just to be sure, and lacking a groundhog hole to watch, I’d say it is better to knit a super-warm and extra-cosy maxi scarf (which by the way is unisex!) to fight off the cold weather with style.

• Brushed Fleece distributed by Coats Cucirini, 400 g (105 m/50 gr), 65 % wool 30 % alpaca 5 % polyamide, shown in colour 254 Tarn
• 6 mm crochet hook
• Tapestry needle

Il 2 febbraio nel nord America si porta avanti una tradizione ormai secolare, quella del Giorno della Marmotta (Groundhog day). È una credenza associata all’antica festa della luce (Candlemas day) dove si aspetta che una marmotta faccia capolino dalla sua tana per capire se si andrà incontro ad un lungo e freddo inverno o ad una primavera anticipata. Nel dubbio e in mancanza di tane di marmotta nei paraggi sarà meglio sfoderare l’uncinetto e realizzare una maxi sciarpa calda e avvolgente (e unisex!) per ripararci dal freddo senza tralasciare lo stile.
Il filato utilizzato è il Brushed Fleece di Rowan (distribuito in italia da CoatsCucirini), ha un aspetto opaco e leggermente infeltrito (come dice la parola “brushed”: spazzolato), ma allo stesso tempo è estremamente morbido, caldissimo e leggero.

Occorrente:
• Brushed Fleece distribuito da Coats Cucirini, 400 g (105 m/50 gr), 65 % Lana 30 % Alpaca 5 % Poliammide, colore in foto 254 Tarn
• Uncinetto da 6 mm
• Ago da lana
