Design Preview
This stitch was one of my favorites for baby garments over 20 years ago, and I always dreamed of using it in an adult design. Paired with a crisp cotton-paper blend yarn, it creates a beautifully structured fabric after blocking, making it perfect for this tailored cardigan.
Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced
The body is worked bottom-up in one piece, then divided for the fronts and back. Sleeves are worked separately and sewn in for a classic set-in sleeve construction. This pattern assumes a basic understanding of standard crochet symbols and chart reading. Tutorial videos for the stitch pattern, increases, and decreases are included.
Size Guide
Designed with 10 to 17 cm (4 to 6¾ in) of positive ease at the bust. For the intended fit, choose your usual size. Make a swatch and select your size based on your own gauge before starting.
Yarn, Needles, Gauge
□ Yarn : Papier (60 g / approx. 280 m per ball, approx. 1 mm thick, 40% paper, 60% cotton) in MC and CC. Only a small amount of contrast color is needed for the edging.
□ Hook : 4/0(2.5mm), 3/0(2.3mm), and 5/0(3.0mm) crochet hooks (adjust hook size to match gauge)
□ Gauge : 24 sts and 10 rows in pattern stitch = 10 cm using a 4/0 hook
□ Notions : stitch markers, 9-10 buttons (10~12 mm)
Recommended Yarn : 100% cotton or cotton-based yarns approximately 1 mm thick are recommended. Avoid yarns that are too soft or lack structure, as they may not hold the shape of the garment well. Silk, rayon, linen, or other yarns with strong drape or stretch are not recommended.
** Pattern **
