The Mayfair pattern provides 2 views – a sweater with a cabled neck (CNV – cable neck version)and one with a ribbed neck (RNV – rib neck version). Both have cabled cuffs. The cabled neck is knit seperately and sewn on to the garment in the finishing stages whereas the ribbed neck is picked-up and knit from the neckline area. The cabling patterns are written-out, not charted. Both versions have slight waistline shaping, set-in sleeves and are worked in stockinette stitch.
Yarn requirements are given for 3 of Jaeger’s yarns: Matchmaker Merino DK (Matchmaker), Extra Fine Merino DK (Extra Fine) and Luxury Tweed (Luxury) with their associated needle requirements.
