McCafferty shawl
A triangular shaped garter stitch shawl with a perpendicularly knit lace border - 2010 archive pattern revived for 2023.
YARN: approx 690M / 750 yards of sport weight yarn for main colour. Sample shown in Knitcrate Vidalana Ascendance (100% wool, 300m per 100g) in shade Limestone (discontinued).
Optional extra: 2 shades of laceweight mohair to hold with MC for borders. You will need approx 109m / 119 yards of CC1 (blue in sample) and 260m / 284 yards of CC2 (orange in sample). Sample shown in Rowan Kidsilk Haze.
GAUGE: 17 stitches and 31 rows to 4” / 10 cm in garter stitch on 5mm needles, blocked.
NEEDLES & NOTIONS: 5mm circular (you may find it easier to use varying lengths as the shawl widens)
