Meg March Shawl
“Just because my dreams are different than yours, it doesn’t mean they’re unimportant.” (Meg March, Little Women)
Meg is a romantic homemaker at heart who battles her unrealistic desire for wealth and finery. This shawl is the largest of the collection (Meg is the eldest sister), definitely romantic in character whilst also being practical and warm and is something Meg would treasure.
Beginning with a single slip stitch and increasing to a staggering number of stitches briefly during the border (1541!), this shawl is fully written with optional charts. The charts are supplied as a separate file.
The 5mm needle is used for the cast-off only.
Notions required
1 lockable stitch marker (for br4st dec)
Tapestry needle
Notes on yardage
Three skeins of each colour are used.
My sample used 1040m of the Light Colour (LC) and 990m of the Dark Colour (DC). My test knitter (thank you Ann Batcheller!) used 991.5m LC and 865m DC.
Many thanks to Nancy Marchant for her work on brioche stitches and terminology, which is used here and to Deb Bramham for her brilliant tech editing.
