Melanie's Inkle Boot Topper
This decorative boot topper was inspired by a glove in a Swedish museum. It combines a simple pattern knit with two colors in the round and integrates a narrow band of inkle as decoration. A ribbon or lucet braid also could be used. Two contrasting colors are used for fringes.
This pattern was designed for a boot with a circumference of 11.5”. Increase or decrease the number of stitches in groups of 4 sts to match the circumference of your own boot. It is best to have a band circumference that is very slightly smaller than the top of your boot so that it fit snugly but not tightly around the boot top.
As shown, the topper uses a super wash yarn for the main color, and fringes of a 100% yarn in two contrasting colors. The topper most certainly will get wet and dirty when worn, so be sure you can soak or wash the yarns as needed.
The contrasting colors requires very little yarn: CC1 used 15 yds, and CC2 used just over 7 yards. The main color consumed less than 1/4 (100 yds) of super wash yarn.
