The Merrows Song cowl is a little bit rustic, and a whole lot of cozy. While creating this piece, I researched mermaids and found that a Merrow is like a mermaid or siren from Irish folklore.
With simple cables, slipped stitches and a garter background, this cowl has a spirit of elegance while also maintaining an everyday feel.
I love bandana shaped cowls (if you didn’t know, yet, now you know!) as they are easy to wear and look great with so many style options.
Construction: Cowl is worked flat from the bottom tip. It is shaped by adding stitches on either side for several rows. After the increases are complete, a set amount of stitches are cast on and the cowl is joined to be worked in the round. After several cable rounds are worked, a smaller needle is used to knit a few more rounds to create a funnel shape. Then, it is bound off. The ends are woven in. The piece is then blocked.
