Mimi Cardigan
Wrap yourself in whimsy with this cosy, cute cardigan. The cropped, relaxed silhouette makes it effortlessly stylish while the delicate V-neckline ties, crafted into dainty bows, add a touch of playful elegance. The design is simple but full of little details which make for a fun, quick knit that allows for some mindless knitting but also introduces some more advanced techniques.
The fit of the cardigan is oversized which means that 20cm of positive ease have been incorporated into the fit for the smaller 5 sizes and 25cm for the larger 3 sizes. The Bust Circumference shown is for the finished garment. Measure your bust circumference and add 20cm to this measurement to determine what size you should knit. The finished garment length measurements are given as guidelines. Try the cardigan on to make sure the body and sleeve length are to your liking before binding off. You can always add an extra couple of rows/rounds for a longer fit.
A simple cardigan knit from the top down with no seaming. The back panel is knit first with increases to create the shoulder slope then straight to the armhole. These stitches are left live and we turn the work to pick up stitches from the sloped edge to create the shoulders. Once both the shoulders and the neck have been formed, we continue to knit the piece flat until we have achieved the same depth to the armhole on the front as we have on the back. We then join front and back to continue knitting the body. The sleeves are picked up from the body and knit in the round. Finally using a tubular cast-on, a double knit buttonband is knit and joined to the front opening and icord ties are knit directly onto the button band.
