Miss Woodhouse
“Miss Woodhouse” is the fourth in the “Jane Austen Heroines” series.
Like the others it is of a crescent shape with intricate lace border running at the bottom and lacy body.
There are two samples shown one knitted in sport weight (light purple “Silver Rose”) and the other (pink “Chinese Anemone”) in fingering yarn. Both yarns have 50% silk content which gives both shawls beautiful sheen and drape. In each instance the yarn requirements are just under 2 skeins.
“Miss Woodhouse” is knitted border first and later stitches are picked up for the body and short rows are used to shape it.
The size given is 61” wingspan and 22” depth along centre back (for both shawls), however, it is very easy to change (all instruction are given).
For those who like beads there is an opportunity to use them as edging lends itself to beading.
To finish the piece I have used crochet hook to make the top edge stable and attractive, however, it can be finished by couple of plain knitted rows and a bind off if crochet hook is not your thing;)
“Miss Woodhouse” has been created for intermediate and advanced knitters. There is patterning on both sides, short rows, some twisted stitches and little cables all of which make knitting interesting and engaging.
The pattern is written and charted.
“Miss Woodhouse” is very elegant and stylish, perfect for an opera or any other special occasion!
