The Mixed Feelings Coaster is a quick, beginner-friendly make that’s simple, pretty, and a little bit playful. It works up fast—great for a relaxed evening project, a last-minute gift, or using up those leftover yarn scraps. The mix of light, lacy stitches and fun bobbles gives it a unique texture, and the trendy edging pulls everything together without making the pattern complicated. It’s easy to customize with colors you love, and the finished coaster adds a sweet touch of handmade style to any space.

This pattern uses DK-weight yarn paired with a 4.5 mm hook. For coasters, I recommend sticking with synthetic or plant-based fibers—they’re sturdy, easy to clean, and hold up well with everyday use. The design is worked in the round and combines a handful of simple stitches—bobbles, double crochet, single crochet, and chains—to create its fun texture and look. A neat little picot border finishes things off with a decorative touch.

The coaster is written in one standard size that works well for most cups and mugs, but you can easily tweak it. Try adjusting your hook size, switching to a different yarn weight, or adding an extra round or two if you want a slightly larger piece. Gauge isn’t critical here, so feel free to experiment.

This is a beginner-friendly project built around basic stitches and easy techniques. To make it even more accessible, the pattern includes written instructions for the bobble stitch, a photo tutorial (located at the end of the pattern), and links to video demos for any special steps.

The pattern is 19 pages long, but only two pages are actually crochet instructions. The others are pattern information and the photo tutorial.
