The “Morgentau” Shawl is an asymmetrical triangular shawl knitted sideways. The different way of increasing creates a slightly rounded shape which drapes beautifully around your shoulders.

The two differently textured parts of this shawl are growing along each other: the main part is created by a combination of lines of twisted stitches, subtle bubbles only made with increases & decreases, and lace zig-zags. A stockinette part brings a calm and simple aspect to the knitting experience.

“Morgentau” is the German word for “morning dew” and that’s where my inspiration for this shawl design came from. I am sure that you know the tiny drops of water that appear on the grass and spider webs in the morning in spring and fall? To me, they are indescribably beautiful and have something magical about them and I want to capture that feeling in this design.

The pattern provides fully written and charted instructions.
