This pattern was originally published as Northwest Wools’ contribution to the 2020 Rose City Yarn Crawl in Portland, Oregon. The pattern is also part of the 2020 Pattern Collection: Birds of the Pacific Northwest.

The Mountain Bluebird is a medium size bird in lovely shades of blues and greys. Conservation efforts since the 1960s have helped this bird population stabilize. Construction of Nest Boxes in suitable habitat have been especially helpful, as nesting-size trees have decreased. You can help the Bluebirds by building Nest Boxes or supporting the Audubon Society to do so! And to accessorize your cowl, you can choose to purchase an optional Feather Shawl Pin, designed by local ceramic artist Candace Wilson of “One of a Kind Buttons!”
