Notes From the Designer:
The meditative properties of mandalas are appreciated by cultures and philosophies throughout the world. A mandala’s circular form ranges from simple to intricate, inspiring moments of inward and outward reflection. People create mandalas from a variety of materials, from the impermanence of sand to the solidity of carved stone. Multivalence is formed from yarn that is sumptuous in both color and texture. As you crochet each section, each round, each stitch, hone your focus. Be mindful of the feel of the yarn as it slips through your fingers. Note the soft sounds of the hook moving through the yarn. Watch as each movement creates a stitch that flows into another to form unique patterns. Breathe deeply and slowly, pull your tongue away from the roof of your mouth as you unclench your jaw, and drop your shoulders down and back. Know that in this moment, you are creating art, and enjoy the process.

- Gauge is not crucial to this project, but will affect yardage and size.
- The pattern uses 12 colors but can be made with more or fewer, if preferred.
- Total yards/meters used for this sample: approximately 2,615 yds (2,395 m) – Color A: 195 yds (179 m), Color B: 210 yds, (192 m) Color C: 260 yds (238 m) Color D: 190 yds (174 m), Color E: 240 yds (220 m), Color F: 135 yds (124 m), Color G: 240 yds (220 m), Color H: 200 yds (183 m), Color I: 235 yds (215 m), Color J: 270 yds (247 m), Color K: 215 yds (197 m), and Color L: 225 yds (206 m).
- VERY IMPORTANT: You will need to keep the leftover partial skeins, as you will need them later in the pattern.
- VERY IMPORTANT: If using the suggested colors or any other high contrast colors, steam blocking is strongly encouraged to avoid color transfer. We also recommend that you make and wash test swatches for all colors to check for color fastness.
