Mystical Forest is a tune by modern-day Fantasy composer Ean Grimm whose influences include Celtic, Viking and Medieval melodies. His ultimate aim is to create music that is “enchanting, magical and peaceful”.
Shadows and light play with intertwining branches of the deep forest in the cabled stitch pattern of these toe-up socks.
Features
- Toe-up construction.
- Modified wide toe.
- Sole worked in the Eye of Partridge pattern - so cushy!
- Instep sts worked in a slipped-stitch cable pattern.
- Fleegle-style, short row heel
- Instep cable pattern continues on both the front and back leg.
- Irregular top ribbing flows from the leg pattern.
Both charts and written directions for charts are provided.
Knitters need to be able to read their knitting, i.e. identify knit and purl stitches, to work the recommended bind off.

Finished foot circumference: 7.5 (8, 8.5)“ / 19 (20.5, 21.5)cm.
Finished foot length: 8.75 (9.5, 10)” / 22 (24, 25.5)cm.
Bottom of heel to top of ribbing: 11” / 28cm.
Yarn
420 (450, 480)yds / 384 (411, 439)m fingering /sock weight yarn.
Sample shown in Knit Picks Felici (fingering weight; 75% Superwash Merino Wool, 25% Nylon; 218yds per 50g): Cupcake Karaoke.
Needles
2.25mm / US 1 set of 4 or 5 DPN or 2 circular needles 16” / 40cm or longer for Two Circulars Method or one circular needle 32” / 81cm or longer for Magic Loop method or size required to obtain gauge.
Notions
Cable needle, stitch marker, stitch holders or waste yarn, tapestry needle.
