Nadja
A tribute to the cutest creature of the night, Nadja is a seamless, crew-neck cardigan with bat details that can be worked in either duplicate stitch or intarsia. Contrasting button bands and contrasting reverse stockinette ridges above the ribbing help carry the accent color from beyond the colorwork to create a cohesive look. Nadja has a casual fit with a straight, hip-length body and ¾-length, set-in sleeves that are shaped seamlessly with short rows.
Construction begins with the upper back that is placed on hold after the armhole shaping. Fronts are picked up and knit down from the cast-on edge of the upper back. Bat details are worked from the charts in intarsia at the same time as the fronts, or markers are placed on stitches to use as reference for duplicate stitch bats to be added after the body is completed. After the fronts are shaped, the upper back is joined as stitches are cast on for the underarms. The body is knit straight, which makes the length easily customizable. With the body finished and the colorwork added in either method, stitches are picked up for the sleeves and knit down with a short-row-shaped sleeve cap. Button bands in a contrasting color are the finishing touch.
