Nemo Snow Storm Scarf
The East Coast had a horrible, massive snow storm called “Nemo” years ago. I know knitters have amazing stashes and many of my local knitting friends can not get to a yarn store over the next few days. Here is a pattern where you can go “shopping” in your stash and end up with a beautiful, soft, stylish scarf. Stay warm, safe and knit happily away. xo
MATERIALS:
1 skein Schulana Cashmere Trend by Skacel (100% cashmere with roughly 50 yards left) Color: gray
1 skein Mongolian Cashmere 4-ply by Jade Sapphire (100% cashmere with 200 yards) Color: olive (held two strands together)
1 skein Handspun Alpaca (100% alpaca with 150 yards) Color: tweed
1 skein ShiBui Worlsted by ShiBui (100% merino with roughly 100 yards left) Color: black
1 skein Alpaca (100&% alpaca with 150 yards) Color: dark brown (held two strands tog)
2 fur pompoms that came from a Cashmere Cap Kit from Skacel
US 9 needles or size needed to obtain gauge
1 stitch marker
SIZE: one size, simple to make wider or longer based on your yarn stash/stitches cast on.
FINISHED SIZE: 6” x 71” (not including pompoms)
GAUGE: 16sts to 4” in garter stitch
PATTERN NOTES:
~This scarf was made with my favorite “left over” yarns from other projects and from 2 full skeins of handspun alpaca yarns. I did buy the olive cashmere skein because it was so pretty. The pompoms were from a hat kit. I did have yarn left over from the three full skeins.
~Take a look at your stash and find 5 different colors/fibers/textures/yarns that you would love to knit with and that blend well together.
~I had to double up on the purchased olive cashmere yarn and one of the alpaca handspuns to make it thick enough to roughly match the weight of the other yarns.
~This scarf is perfect for you to be creative with…use the colors as you want…stripe more often…make it unique.
